Doug Imig's research interests include social movements, public interest representation, community advocacy, and citizen involvement. His publications include Poverty and Power: The Political Representation of Poor Americans (1996, University of Nebraska); and Contentious Europeans: Voice and Representation in an Emerging Polity, co-edited with Sidney Tarrow (2001, Rowman and Littlefield).
Imig's current project is on “The American Children’s Movement.” (With the support of the William T. Grant Foundation, grant # 2541, 2004-2006). This project investigates the ways in which children become politically salient in the United States, and the ways that activists and advocates respond to political opportunities in their efforts to advance political agendas for children.
